NDIS Assistance

As a disabled person myself, I understand how hard it is to lose weight and stay safe from injuries that often come with weight.

There are the obvious benefits of losing weight like looking good, fitting cloths better and reducing the risk of diabetes and other health related issues.  But for someone who is disabled and overweight, this can bring its own set of problems (read my story here).

For me, being overweight led to being hospitalised for 4 months on two seperate occasions, several surgeries, blood transfusions and I was bedridden the entire time.  How did it happen??? I was simply transferring to another chair and I accidentally cut the back of my leg.  Due to it's location and the lack of sensation that I have, this small wound became infected and septic which led to a very long recover that I had to fight both mind and body.

Now that I have reduced weight my transfers are far more controlled as I am not trying to carry across 127kgs.  Look accidents can still happen, but I am minimising this and any further falls by reducing my weight and therefore reducing any future hospitalisations.  This is something I need to continue to maintain and manage.

So by addressing this issue under the NDIS we can save the government a very costly extended stay in hospital, reducing the possibility of pressure sores or heavy falls, allowing you to be the best you can be.

How We Make This Happen

We have designed a 12 week program where you can speak with our medical team, Dietitian, Counsellors and Accountability coaches to build out your program to get the best results.  If you feel you only need support in one area like diet you can speak with our dietitian separately.   Your 12 week program will include counselling support which can also be arranged separately if needed.

If needed we can then provide a written report that your Support Coordinator can submit to NDIS for a plan review to include this in your plan and if any equipment like wheel on scales are needed.

Once all this is in place you will be supported by our counselling team to help overcome any mindset barriers you may face and keep you motivated to reach your weight loss goal.

We can assist plan and self managed participants.
